Hewlett Packard Enterprise Buys SGI for $275 million



Hewlett Packard Enterprise announced in August 11, 2016  that they sign a definitive agreement to acquire SGI (NASDAQ: SGI) for $275 million in cash and debt.

SGI specialize high-performance servers, storage data analytics and data management , formerly known as Silicon Graphics, co-founded in 1981 by Jim Clark and acquired in 2009 by Rackable Systems after bankruptcy.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise aiming by this acquisition to extend its leadership in Big Data Analytics and High Performance Computing market also enhance the presence in key vertical market.

SGI has roughly 1,100 employees around the world, and had incomes of $533 million for this year 2016.
